Nigerian Praise and Worship Songs

Praise and worship is an integral part of life in Nigeria for centuries. Earlier this was done before modern Christian missionaries foot in the country. At this time the locals took to the praises of their God (s) to sing. These songs were sung, when the drought came the rain after a long period, with a rich good harvest and the birth of a child.

Others praise the songs were sung during various occasions. If a local king died and a successor has been elected special songssung in his praise, and asked the god (s) to him a long life and wisdom. the songs are special for the young heroes were sung for heroic deeds in war as such. In Nigeria, as in many African countries are still singing hymns of praise, especially for leaders.

The advent of Christianity and Islam, rooted in Nigeria never praise. Some praise songs have been converted to the change of worship to reflect on, and most of the praise songs are used today for praising God (both Christianand Muslims).

These were songs of praise and worship songs converted to spread throughout the country. While the modern worship songs have found their way into society, the traditional rule still find traditional instruments such as drums and horns are used.
