Only an Hour Away From the City of Mendoza

The city of San Carlos is located approximately 100 kilometers away from the Mendoza's 4 Stars Hotel, and it has a rustic landscape with modest streets, farms and colorful producing fields. The small quiet town of San Carlos is famous for its History and its festivals.

The most important festivities in San Carlos are the San Carlos de Borromeo Festival and the Tradition Festival. These festivals are celebrated in November, Argentina´s springtime. Other celebrations are the Tomato and Production Festival, the Departmental Harvest Festival and the Provincial Oregano Festival.

During a visit to San Carlos, we can go to the Natural Science Museum, where species from all over the country can be found. Besides, the San Carlos´Fort Museum is another option. This one has been declared Historical National Monument and it keeps remains of the historical fort built in 1770 in defense of the native invasions. As A Matter Of Fact, some objects which used to belong to aboriginal tribes, such as ceramic utensils are carefully kept and preserved in this museum.

Other activities to do in the town of San Carlos include the visit to the path of the Portillo, where we can follow the route taken by the Liberator, General San Martin. What is more, we can go over the Diamante Lagoon, at the very foot of the Maipo Volcano, where we can try to catch some rainbow trouts, walk around admiring the wonders of Mother Nature or try diving in the mountain.

Valle del Sol (Sun Valley) is another lovely village to visit, the perfect place to spend your holidays in the province of Mendoza. Only a couple kilometers away from Potrerillos, this town offer quietness, pure air and sunny days cuddled by the gentle arms of Mother Nature and its wonders. Valle del Sol has a microclimate, which leads to deep contrasts in the local vegetation. This phenomenon can be registered on the green pinewoods on one hillside and arid Land, typical of high mountains on the other.

A nursery of exotic flora is one of the most interesting and most attractive of the Valle del Sol, a variety of styles with bright colors and lively forms of acceptance.
